Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Cabinet Secretary nominee in charge of the Ministry of Defence, Aden Duale, has rung an alarm bell to corruption suspects in the reign of the newly formed administration of President William Ruto.

Speaking during a house sitting on Tuesday, October 11, Duale disclosed that President Ruto has demonstrated his commitment to ending the haemorrhage of public resources in Kenya within his first days in office.

The Administration's gaze has been turned towards Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) which has been riddled with corrupt dealings since Covid-19 struck the country in 2020.

Duale banked on President Ruto’s resolve to accord independence to oversight bodies as the sign that his administration will succeed in the war against graft.

“For corruption, watch his pace. If you were involved in KEMSA, if you have a file whether you belong to Kenya Kwanza or if you belong to the opposition he categorically said he will empower the oversight independent institutions,” he stated.

The legislator further expressed his confidence in Ruto terming him the perfect solution to the challenges the country faced for decades.

While referring to the policies and actions implemented since Ruto's ascension to the position of president, Duale affirmed his conviction that the president will rank among the best presidents in the history of Kenya.

According to Duale, the newly elected president has managed to iron out issues in different aspects whilst his cabinet appointees are still awaiting approval by parliament.

“President William Ruto would be either like President Mwai Kibaki who left us with a debt of Sh1.8 trillion, or he would be better.

"If Kenya will not change during the leadership of president William Ruto, it will never change, there is optimism,"  he added.

Duale also lauded the president's move to reduce interest rates on mobile lenders which he described as a bold step. He also commended Ruto for his efforts to combat the rampant drought facing Kenyans in parts of the country.

"He reduced the prices of fertilizer, he is dealing with the drought as we speak today," he stated.

The MP was speaking during a debate session on President William Ruto's inaugural address to a joint parliamentary sitting during the official opening of the 13th Parliament.
