Acting Police IG Noor Gabow Announces DCI Mini-Reshuffle

Acting Inspector General Noor Gabow on Wednesday, October 19, effected changes at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in line with ongoing police reforms. 

In a statement by the Acting IG, he noted that the changes are aimed at streamlining services and enhancing effectiveness. 

In the changes, John Gachomo was deployed as the new Director Internal Affairs Unit while Nicholas Ireri Kamwende was appointed as the Deputy Director DCI.

Further, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat AIG was appointed as the new Director of the Investigations Bureau (IB), Johnstone Kola CP the new Director of the Anti-terrorism Police Unit(ATPU).

Martin Otieno Omumbo was deployed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations whereas Paul Mumo was deployed to the Kenya Police Headquarters, Vigilance House Nairobi.

Gabow has been effecting the changes as part of a wider re-organisation drive expected at the National Police Service (NPS) as the new administration takes charge.

On Saturday, October 15, the acting IG gave the directive for the DCI to disband the Special Service Unit. 

"The DCI Special Service Unit (SSU) has been disbanded with immediate effect. This follows a directive from the Ag. IG Mr. Noor Gabow."

"All officers serving in the disbanded unit have been recalled to DCI Headquarters for further instructions," the DCI stated. 

Further, the DCI boss Amin Mohamed, during his swearing-in ceremony, affirmed that he would work with all Kenyans in a bid to dispense justice. 

"I want to urge foreigners and Kenyans at large to obey the law. I'm going to discharge my duties professionally and with integrity.
