Kenya's top government officials are highly respected, as manifested in the special VIP treatment they are accorded.
Among the privileges they enjoy are insurance packages, allowances, pensions and high-end vehicles fitted with unique number plates.
They are also given escort teams which aid them in navigating through traffic.
President- C IN C
Kenya, being a commonwealth nation, observes the culture of the ceremonial land cruiser, which chauffeurs the president while doing the lap of honour in national events and functions.
Kenya currently uses an armoured Toyota Land Cruiser with an open roof covered by bulletproof glasses.
The C IN C on the registration represents the rank of the President as the commander-in-chief of the defence forces.
Ruto rides in the vehicle alongside the Chief of Defence Forces and the aide-de-camp.
The Land Cruiser has Kenya's Coat of Arms embedded on both sides and also bears the national flag and the presidential standard.
President’s Offical Car - Coat of Arms
The head of state uses a variety of special cars for official occasions, including a state limousine.
The limousine bears the Coat of Arms instead of the ordinary number plates both at the front and the back.
It also bears the national flag and the presidential standard.
Chief Justice- CJ 1
Chief Justice Martha Koome, who is also the head of the Judiciary, is also honoured with a unique registration number for vehicles designated to chauffeur her.
Her official cars are fitted with a special plate CJ 1, which denotes Chief Justice 1.
The registrar of the Judiciary, as the custodian of the number plate, receives it when the CJ exits office and hands it over to the successor.
DCJ
Vehicles assigned to the Deputy Chief Justice also bear a special tag - DCJ. However, the vehicle has a registration similar to those used by other government officers.
Speaker of the National Assembly- SNA- 1
The Speaker of the National Assembly is also honoured in his status as the head of the law-making arm of the government. A sitting speaker is chauffeured in a special vehicle with registration number SNA-1, meaning Speaker of the National Assembly.
The vehicle assigned to a speaker also bears the national flag on the left side.
Senate Speaker SSN-001
As the head of the second legislative arm, Senate Speaker is assigned a special car with SSN- 001 as its registration. The national flag is also attached to the car.
Governors- GVN
Governors also rank higher in the hierarchy of Kenya's leadership. Besides the relatively high salaries and an array of allowances, the county chiefs are chauffeured in distinguishable cars with peculiar number plates- GVN.
Respective county codes complement the three letters which stand for governor.
