Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina accused President William Ruto of planning to mutilate the Constitution by using Kenya Kwanza's allied members of parliament.

The vocal legislator claimed that the MPs were seeking to pass controversial bills and if not checked, the President would make the Legislature an extension of the Executive.

He was irked by the proposal fronted by Gichugu MP, Gichimu Githinji, and his Matungulu counterpart, Stephen Mule, to amend the Constitution to entrench funds given to legislators and National Government on Wednesday, November.

"The basic structure cannot be changed! The Legislature is the Legislature and not an extension of the Executive," Ledama lamented.

First, the proposal sought the return of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), earlier declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court

The MPs also pushed for the entrenchment of the Senate Oversight Fund to allocate senators money for development projects.

Kenya Kwanza also wanted to entrench Economic Stimulus and Empowerment Fund in the Constitution.

Lastly, the proposal sought to amend the Constitution to allow the National Government Affirmative Action Fund.

These funds will be given to woman representatives for development purposes in their respective counties.

Ledama, however, did not indicate whether Azimio La Umoja allies would oppose the motion

The senator has been vocal since joining the opposition, constantly criticiszng the Kenya Kwanza government.

He previously argued that the government ought to be kept in check to prevent misuse of power and abuse of office
