Former Prime Raila Odinga has taken President William Ruto to task over the death of Kenyans who were in the political spotlight, including the late businessman Jacob Juma and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT expert, Chris Musando.

Raila, on Thursday, November 3, asked Ruto to invest an equal measure of effort in investigating the death of other Kenyans, not just the two Indians who disappeared at the height of the 2022 General Election.

He further accused the President and his allies of using extra-judicial cases to haunt former Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti.

Kinoti has been under pressure since resigning. Kenya Kwanza politicians accused him of forming the defunct Special Services Unit (SSU) indicted of kidnapping and murdering the two Indians attached to Ruto's campaign team.

“We are particularly concerned about the so-called probe into extra-judicial executions, which is turning into a witch-hunt against the former DCI boss George Kinoti and a few police officers,” Raila stated.

Raila claimed that Ruto was turning a blind eye to serious past extra-judicial and mysterious deaths of innocent Kenyans.

“Let’s be clear on the so-called extrajudicial executions. As a party, we believe in the sanctity of life.

"As we have said repeatedly, we believe in the rule of law, due process, and we are opposed to extra-judicial executions in our country,” read Raila’s statement.

The President was further accused of exercising revenge against those he considered enemies.

“He seems to be perusing a personal vendetta against current and past state officers in the pretext of seeking solutions to extra-judicial killings,” Raila added.

He thus wanted the President to establish the truth over the death of several other Kenyans who were either killed or died in mysterious circumstances.

Besides Jacob Juma and Msando, he cited the deaths of Sergeant Kipyegon Kimei (former police officer), and International Criminal Court witnesses Christopher Koech, Meshack Yebi, and John Kituyi.
