Police rescued a two-year-old baby who was involved in a child trafficking incident in Homa Bay County after ambushing the suspects.

Witnesses in the case claimed that the boy was sold by his parents at Ksh80,000.

Preliminary reports indicated that the trade occurred at Keroka town in Nyamira County before the minor was driven to Nyaburi village in the Karachuonyo location.

Police, after catching wind of the child trafficking case, apprehended the driver of a car that ferried the boy before tracking down the main trafficker's house.

At the house, they found the boy in the company of two ladies who were immediately put under arrest.

Police pleaded with public members to report such cases to nearby police stations.

The incident came a day after a mentally challenged woman was assaulted by the public in a case of mistaken identity.

Cops investigating the case stated that the woman had been accused of kidnapping a baby in Narok.

Narok Central Police commander, Fredrik Shiundu, warned the public against taking the law into their hands.

Shiundu insisted on residents filing complaints at nearby police stations.

"The suspect was badly injured. Let anyone who is aggrieved file complaints at nearby police stations.

"No citizen has the right to take the law into their own hands," Shiundu stated.
