President William Ruto apologised to his Burundian counterpart, Évariste Ndayishimiye, over a communication mishap that delayed their meeting.
In a video shared by the Burundi State House Communication, Ruto was filmed approaching the Burundi head of state before exchanging pleasantries. He then apologised in Swahili after they sat.
The President was to meet with Ndayishimiye on Sunday, November 8, when he travelled to Egypt for the COP27 conference.
"How is Kenya?" Ndayishimiye inquired.

"Kenya is good. I'm sorry about yesterday. You know, what happened is that my team informed me that you would travel to Egypt.
"I later learnt that you were waiting for me," Ruto replied.
The duo met on the sidelines of COP27- the international conference on Climate Change.
At the meeting, Ruto and Ndayishimiye discussed the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the recent deployment of troops to combat the conflict.
"He (Ndayishimiye) led a consultative meeting on the security situation in the east of DRC in which several Heads of State of the Community were present," Burundi State House stated.
Ndayishimiye is the current chair of the East African Community (EAC).
EAC including Kenya has sent troops to restore calm in parts of DRC where M23 rebels have been fighting with DRC troops over the years.
Reports indicate that Kenya will spend Ksh7.2 billion on the DRC operation.
