The Ministry of Education released the school calendar for the 2023 academic year, reverting to the normal schedule that was disrupted by the pandemic outbreak.
In a circular dated November 7, Education PS Julius Jwan indicated that schools would return to the normal calendar that was changed in 2020 by former Education CS, George Magoha.
All students will report to school on January 23 and close on April 21 after 13 weeks of term one.
The second term will begin on May 8 and end on August 11.
Students will take a three-day half-term break between June 29 and July 2.
They will thereafter proceed to the end-of-term two holiday between August 12 and August 27 before reopening for the third term.
2023's final term will start on August 28 until November 3, with students sitting KCPE writing their exams for four days between November 6 and November 9.
Form 4 candidates sitting KCSE are expected to write their exams between November 10 and December 1, according to the new circular.
The Ministry of Education equally released the term dates for students in teachers' training colleges across the country.
Training colleges, whose first terms started on August 29 ending December 2, will start their second term on January 23 2023, until April 21.
Students will take a two weeks break in April 2023 instead of the usual four weeks while the ministry settles back to a normal schedule.
Term two will be 13 weeks long, running between January 23 and April 21, 2023, before the students proceed on a two-week break from April 22 and May 7, 2023.
Term three will begin on May 8, 2023, and end on August 11, 2023, before a three-week holiday between August 12, 2023, and September 1, 2023.
Jwan urged all field officers to ensure the affected institutions are informed of the changes.
