Boni Khalwale Appoints 21-Yr-Old Brian Matiro as Communication Director

 Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Sunday, November 13, announced the appointment of a 21-year-old Brian Matiro as his director of communication in the county.

The vocal lawmaker who make a comeback after the August elections, described Matiro as the youngest member of his regional team.

“Brian Matiro, from Matungu Constituency. A computer wiz kid aged 21 years, is the youngest employee in my Kakamega County office as Director of Communications” stated Khalwale.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke the youthful Kenyans was elated after being named, and promised to  represent youths and advocating for their welfare. He described Khalwale as the youths’ senator.

“I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to  Dr. Boni Khalwale for appointing a 21 year old to be to his communication director. Thanks, Dr. Boni Khalwale for appointing me,” stated Matiro.

In an interview with this writer, Matiro divulged that he is the last born in a family of 13. He sat for his KCPE in 2015 in Bungoma, a neighboring county and KCSE in 2019 in Kakamega.

While in high school, he lived with his sister whose husband was an MCA. It is during this period that he got interested in politics.

While in form 3 he created a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Youths WhatsApp group that he used to preach peace.

He challenged the youth to engage in hate-free campaigns. His peers were impressed with his leadership and elected him as their moderator.

Matiro further told Kenyans.co.ke that it was during this period that he got the attention of Khalwale, a seasoned politician who previously served as a Member of Parliament for Ikolomani.

“He made me a digital strategist during his campaign period and later an IT agent in Matungu constituency,” he stated.

His social media accounts are also dotted with events attended by the legislator.

“What you have seen on social media is true, I already have the job and today marks my second day. I am working directly from the Kakamega county government office,” he confirmed.

Matiro expounded that he is yet to join the university but hopes to further his education, with the support of the Senator, and pursue his dreams.

“He has promised to pay school fees for me. I will soon be joining Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to pursue a course related to my current job,” he noted.

Matiro credited his rise to his passion for digital communications since it is through online platforms that he interacted with locals in the run up to the 2022 elections as he drummed up support for Khalwalwe who made a comeback after five years in the political cold.
