A Nairobi resident was accused of allegedly stealing his lover's laptop with Ksh25,000 and shoes and gifting them to his other lover.

In a theft case filed at the Makadara Law Courts, the two ladies agreed to be called to the stand to testify against their lover.

According to one of the ladies, her house was ransacked, and some items, including an ATM bank account, were missing when she came home from work.

The lady was left puzzled as her neighbours could not assist her to trace the suspect as they were not privy to the break-in.

After deliberation, she took the matter to the area police in an effort to recover her stolen goods.

She claimed that she had earlier received an alert from her bank that someone had tried to use her ATM card.

Meanwhile, the second lady stated that the accused went to her home with the stolen items and gifted her.

She, however, lamented that the shoes could not fit her as they were not her size.

The accused was thus accused of conveying suspected stolen goods contrary to Section 323 of the Penal Code.

According to this section, any person who is charged with having in his possession or conveying in any matter anything that may be reasonably suspected of having been stolen or unlawfully obtained and who does not give an account to the satisfaction of the court of how he came by same is guilty of a misdemeanour.

The accused denied all the charges against him before Principal Magistrate Gathogo Sogomo.

His case will be mentioned on January 31, 2023, following his release on a Ksh50,000 surety bond and an alternative Ksh30,000 cash bail,

The hearing will fully commence on May 22, 2023.
