Kenya has some of the best game parks and game reserves not only in Africa but the whole world.

The country boasts of 23 National Parks, 4 National Marine Parks, 28 Nationals Reserves, 6 National Marine Reserves and 4 National Sanctuaries.

Here are the five most popular national parks and reserves that you can visit and have fun as compiled by Kenyans.co.ke.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most visited tourist sites in Kenya.

The expansive park located at the Kenyan border with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, is one of few game reserves in the world that has big game including the big cats, plains game, and plentiful vegetation, wildlife and birdlife.

One of its main tourist attractions is the Great Migration; from July to November, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest move from the Serengeti across the border into the Masai Mara. 

Masai Mara charges an entrance fee of Ksh8600 per adult and Ksh4900 for children under 12 years. All the charges are billed per 24 hours.

Tsavo National Park

Tsavo national park is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West parks. The two parks make up the biggest area of protected land in Kenya

Tsavo East is known for its large herds of elephants and buffaloes not seen anywhere in the country.

Other scenic scenery in Tsavo include Mzima Springs and Lugard Falls.

The entrance fee for the parks includes Ksh1200 for adult residents, Ksh600 for children residents and Ksh9200 for adult non-resident.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru is one of the most visited lakes in Kenya.

Flocks of pink flamingos are the biggest tourist attraction to the area.

Entrance fee for Lake Nakuru National Park is Ksh860 for adults and Ksh215 for children and students.

Haler Park

Haler Park is a nature park found in Bamburi, Mombasa county on the Kenyan coast. The park boasts a variety of plant and animal species.

Some animal species in the park include giraffes, hippos, turtles, crocodiles, snakes and a butterfly pavilion. 

Mombasa Marine National Park & Reserve

The park lies between the Mtwapa and Tudor Creeks in Mombasa County and its blue waters are ideal for wind surfing, water skiing, snorkeling and diving. 

Marine species include crabs, starfish, stone fish, cucumbers sea urchins, corals, turtles, sea grasses and crab plovers.

For Kenyans, the entrance fee is Ksh200 for adults and Ksh125 for children.

For non-residents, the entrance fee is Ksh1843 for adults and Ksh1228 for children.
