Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Vice Chairman Kipruto Arap Kirwa on Thursday, January 12, dissociated himself from the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Coalition party.

Kirwa announced that he was not part of any Azimio-affiliated parties during a morning television show on K24.

The former Cherengany member of parliament further spelled doom to the future of the Raila Odinga-led coalition.

“When I decamped from UDA, I did not sign up for any individual party associated with Azimio.

“I do not see myself doing so now because the coalition is very disorganized at the moment,” Kirwa remarked.

Should the coalition put its house in order, Kirwa revealed that he might join to help keep the government in check.

“I will wait for the coalition to assemble their wares so that I can join we form a formidable opposition that is credible and keep the current government in check.

“As a student of politics, I believe everyone has a role to play and in opposition and I will be criticizing the government in a meaningful way to ensure the country develops,” Kirwa revealed of his future political plans.

The former Agriculture Minister further called out the coalition's leader Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta while faulting how Azimio conducted its campaigns.

“Raila played into President William Ruto’s trap of carrying the burden of incumbency where he was blamed for all the ills of Uhuru’s administration.

“Azimio also miscalculated when Uhuru was allowed to be in the coalition, which made it hard for Azimio to convince Kenyans of their ability to bring change,” he noted.

Kirwa decamped from UDA on May 29, 2022, two months before the August 9, general election.

“I have resigned as UDA vice-chairman because I believe democracy will be suppressed if UDA wins the general election, this is why I am joining Raila’s side because he respects democracy,” Kirwa stated back then.
