Senior government officials who served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration continue to pursue other interests after missing out on appointments in the current regime.

Former Cabinet Secretary for the Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Margaret Kobia is the latest to land a job after she was appointed as an adjunct research professor at the University of Nairobi.

Prof Kobia who is the Chancellor of St Paul's University has been in her present post for one week now.



According to Kobia, her appointment by the University of Nairobi will be under the Directorate of African Women Studies Centre.

An adjunct research professor's responsibilities include reviewing and improving the syllabus to meet students’ needs.

He/she also utilizes a variety of instructional strategies in order to engage students, including cooperative and experiential learning.

She is also a Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship and holds a PhD in Human Resources Education from the University of Illinois.

Kobia an alumnus of Alliance Girls High School served as the founding Director General of the Kenya School of Government.

Between 2005 and 2013 she served as the Director/CEO of the Kenya Institute of Administration.

Through her leadership, she made a profound contribution to transforming the institution into a truly modern Management Development Institute (MDI) leading to the Institute’s elevation to Kenya School of Government (KSG).

In 2022 she was unanimously voted for by women from the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Programme for her efforts in recognising and honouring women's service in the country.



She joined the long list of former cabinet secretaries who have since landed other roles after the change of government in September 2022.

Former ICT CS Joe Mucheru; was appointed global president of London-based fintech Jumo.



Jumo is a London-based fintech company that provides digital financial services such as loans, savings, and insurance products to emerging markets.



Former Tourism CS Najib Balala; landed a new job at the international wildlife conservation charity, Fauna and Flora International.

He was appointed as the vice president of the organisation, which protects threatened species and ecosystems worldwide.



The organisation operates in more than 40 countries worldwide while saving species from extinction and habitats from destruction.

On the other hand, Prof George Magoha who served as Education CS died days after joining Maseno University's School of Medicine as a lecturer.
