Sakaja was also gifted a bouquet of flowers that were presented to him by a representative from the Gor Mahia football team.

"Thank you very much the DG, CEC, Chief officers, members of the county assembly, and staff of Nairobi county for coming here. I do not like functions bout me and my team knows this.

You did not have to be here, there are many other things you would have been doing. It is not only about a birthday it is about an initiative," he stated.

According to the 38-year-old, it felt foreign to turn a year older but was excited about the tree-planting initiative that will cement his legacy in Nairobi.

"Today marks the beginning of our tree planting services our goal is a million trees. We have made arrangements with the necessary authorities to make this a reality," the governor added.

From the photos shared online, he was also seen gushing over a photo of himself that was presented to him as a gift by some of his employees.

Earlier, the governor was visited by a boy from Busia County whom he pledged to fund his education, after he won his heart in January.

"Carlos Barasa the brave young boy who came up to me in Busia about his high school came by this morning to wish me a happy birthday as he heads out to High School. Thanks, Carlos and all the best as you go forward and conquer," Sakaja wrote.

On his social media platforms, Sakaja noted he was overwhelmed by the kind messages from Kenyans.
