Churchill, Azziad Among Celebrities Appointed to Govt Job

Churchill Show host, Daniel Ndambuki, and Azziad Nasenya were among the celebrities appointed to the Talanta Hela Creative Technical Committee.

In a Gazette Notice dated Friday, February 9, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba notified the public of the appointments for the programme to revitalise the creative industry.

The CS indicated that the duo would serve on the creative technical committee for three years.

As per the notice, Churchill will serve as the chairperson, while Azziad and other media personalities, such as radio presenter Jimmi Gathu serve as committee members.

Other notable personalities to serve as members were Catherine Kamau (Kate the actress), Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, Esther Akoth, Kizito Makhande, Susan Ekasiba, Awadhi Salim Awadhi and Douglas Kipkirui Langat.

"The role of the committee will be to propose reliable systems for the seamless and accountable collection and distribution of royalties to all creatives;

"Additionally, propose implementation frameworks for the creatives economy plan," read the notice in part.

Namwamba also revealed that the team was tasked with developing a special award for the creative industry named the National Creatives Awards, alias Kenyan Grammys.

The CS also explained that the team would advise his ministry on the master plan for upgrading arts facilities to meet international standards.

"This creative committee shall also deploy the digital space in talent search, identification, nurturing and exposure,

"Establish a robust framework to monetize the creatives sector to expand employment opportunities and support Kenya's economic growth," read the statement in part.

Following their appointment, Kenyans congratulated the move by the CS as many online users noted that the appointments were timely given opportunities in the creative industry and digital media.
