Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, on Saturday, March 18, challenged a social media user to name his company allegedly involved in erecting billboards.

Sakaja, in a rebuttal, denied involvement in the venture after he was accused of erecting billboards in the city.

"When you elect a Billboard business owner to office he will plant billboards where there should be a pedestrian path or a tree," the aggrieved social media user wrote.

"You say this a lot. Show one billboard under my company. Even one," Sakaja lashed back.

The City boss was compelled to clarify his involvement in the billboard business following an uproar over one erected on a footpath along Valley Road.

Sakaja promised to bring it down while responding to a series of safety concerns raised by residents using Valley Road and boarding various Public Service Vehicles (PSV) at Ralph Bunche stage towards town.

"Governor Johnson Sakaja, it is me again. Where will your voters walk? Nairobi pavements are an endangered species," one social media user questioned the county boss.

"This will be removed," Sakaja responded.

The accusations came a month after the city boss was cornered over various billboards welcoming people to Nairobi.

Sakaja noted that he used his funds to erect the billboards, eliciting an online debate.

"Yes, I used my own money. You may not like it but many appreciate it," he clarified without disclosing how much the project cost.

In December 2022, Sakaja also promised to partner with groups to make school bags from billboards to donate to needy students and sale others at affordable rates.
