Willy Tuva, popularly known as Mzazi Willy, is one of Kenya's most decorated and successful media personalities.
Tuva who hosts Mambo Mseto and Mseto East Africa at Radio Citizen and Citizen TV respectively has won numerous awards in a career spanning over 15 years.
The media star has won three individual awards, two awards for his shows and in 2022, he landed two international ambassadorial roles.
Tuva first got his first national award in 2012 when he was voted as the Male Presenter of the Year at Coast Music Awards.
His Mambo Mseto show which had ruled the airwaves for 5 years also scooped the Radio Show of the Year.
To epitomise his supremacy in the media industry, his then-newly launched Mseto East Africa was ranked as the TV Show of the Year.
Six years after his maiden win, Tuva was voted the Male Host of the Year in the Coast Music Awards.
“I just won an award at the Kenyan Coast Music Awards 2018 Male Host of the Year. Thanks to all my fans for always believing in me,” elated Tuva remarked in his acceptance speech.
After the 2018 win and top ratings for his shows, Tuva was for the first time nominated for an international award at the Africa Muzik Awards (Afrima).
In an event held in Texas, USA, Tuva scooped two awards which were a first for any Kenyan journalist.
He won the Best Radio and TV Presenter in Africa, a recognition of a decade of topping radio and TV ratings.
Tuva was also recognized by international peace organisations for playing clean music in his shows.
Due to that, he was made peace ambassador by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2022.
He also assumed a similar role with Uwiano Platform for Peace where he was tasked with championing for peace towards the August 9, general election.
In a past exclusive interview with Kenyans.co.ke, Tuva explained how his legendary Mambo Mseto show came into being.
“I envisioned a show that primarily promoted home-grown Kenyan artists as well as other talents from around East Africa,” he revealed intrigues behind the show.
The radio and TV star is a trained investigative journalist from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).
