Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu on Tuesday, March 21, drew mixed reactions after he mocked Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.

In a social media post, Ngunjiri wondered what Kioni wanted to achieve with a sufuria on his head during Azimio demonstrations in Nairobi on Monday, March 20.

Our son Kioni, what is this," Ngunjiri wondered in a post that was shared on his Facebook account.

Immediately, social media users ganged up against the former legislator, demanding respect for Kioni.

"Kioni is just fine, he's delivering a message on behalf of his people. I don't see anything awkward," Steven Migwi responded to Ngunjiri.

Those who responded to Ngunjiri stated that Kioni was within his right to demonstrate alongside his Azimio leaders, including Raila Odinga, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Kioni is the next big thing in Mount Kenya. At least he stands for something unlike you," one Betty Beatrice noted.

However, other social media users urged President William Ruto to consider holding talks with with his political nemesis Raila Odinga to end the stalemate before things get out of hand.

"Raila's mass action should not be underrated by the ruling party Kenya Kwanza under the patronage of President William Ruto.

"If Raila Odinga will not be engaged to call off his demonstrations then the plans for mass action will derail and affect the economy of this country to greater levels," one Mtetezi warned.

Ngunjiri had previously asked Jubilee Party leadership, including Jeremiah Kioni and Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to re-think their position in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

However, Kioni had all along maintained that the Jubilee Party is in the Ondiga-led wing. Already, a number of politicians including Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege pledged their support for Ruto's administration. An attempted leadership coup at the former ruling party failed.
