Commonly referred to as the 'Golden Visa', the EB5 travel regime allows the holder to live and invest in the United States of America (USA) without extensive requirements like in many other cases.
The EB5 visa regime also grants the holder a chance to study, engage in other gainful activities and retire in America.
A visa holder does not have to be employed in the US to get EB5 visa, but the person must make a very substantial investment in the US as a pre-qualification condition.
"To receive this visa, you must invest at least Ksh105 million ($800, 000) in a US enterprise and create at least 10 American jobs," Visa Guide explained on its website.
Technically, the EB5 visa is meant for very wealthy foreigners who are seeking a better quality of life in America than in other home countries. They may also be looking for investment opportunities that are not available in their country.
EB5 visa holders are allowed to work and retire in the USA. When they retire there, they stand to benefit from geriatric care facilities in the US. Thus, they get to enjoy quality healthcare for the aged in the last phase of their lives.
"If you are eligible for the EB-5 Visa, you receive a Green Card and you are allowed to live in the US.
"You can include your dependent family members in the application. This means your spouse and children also get Green Cards," Visa Guide explained on its website.
Once enrolled in the Green Card Programme, children and spouses of EB5 Visa holders will enjoy all the rights and benefits as stipulated in American laws.
America normally issues around 10,000 EB5 Visas every year, including those that are held by their family members.
EB5 visa holders are advised to get an immigration lawyer, especially, a specialist in residency-by-investment programs.
Residency by investment specialist will process all necessary documentation on behalf of the visa applicant and his entire family.
US Embassy in Nairobi in January 2023, announced that it had simplified and enhanced visa related activities in Kenya in order to resolve pending issues.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto secured five free-visa deals with five countries including the Bahamas, Egypt, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Africa.
