Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka Wangaya, on Saturday, April 1, dismissed reports that he was embroiled in a confrontation with Kisa East MCA, Stephen Maloba, who was stabbed to death.

Aseka clarified that the alleged stabbing of the MCA did not occur at his meeting venue.

He further dispelled reports that Maloba attended a public participation meeting organised by his office at the Munjiti area of Kisa East Ward.

Following social media reports linking him to the incident, Aseka indicated that he had recorded a statement with the local Directorate of Criminal Investigation.

"To this end, it is paramount to report that the unfortunate death of  Maloba did not take place at the venue of my meeting, neither did he attend the meeting as purported by a section of social media users," Aseka stated.

"I have this afternoon recorded a statement with the Criminal Investigation Department for further urgent investigations into the matter," the lawmaker added.

He eulogised the MCA, indicating that they worked closely serving Khwisero residents. He further condemned the violence, maintaining that it should never be used to settle political scores.

"My heart goes out to his immediate family, friends and the people of Khwisero for losing a great leader with whom I worked very closely," the lawmaker mourned the MCA.

Maloba's death was announced by Kakamega Deputy Governor, Ayub Savula, on Saturday, April 1, during an interdenominational service organised by Farouk Kibet in Malava, Kakamega County.

"We would like to stay here longer, but we can't. Apologies for that. An MCA has just passed away in Khwisero Constituency."

"He was stabbed after a confrontation ensued between two camps, his and that of an MP," Savula claimed.

Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale was among the local leaders who accused the MP of the MCA's demise.

By the time of this publication, the National Police Service (NPS) and DCI had not issued a statement regarding the incident.
