Kenya Power of Saturday, April 8, responded to a viral post of two electric poles erected in the middle of the road in Embakasi East, Nairobi.

According to the resident who raised the issue, he had not received a response from the company since the matter was raised in January 2023.

"I reported this in January and upto date nothing has been done," he wrote.

On the other hand, Kenya Power assured the resident that the matter had been escalated to the relevant technicians while apologising for the delay

"Here is your reference number, our technicians will address it. We shall follow up as well," Kenya Power responded.

In the photo shared, two electric poles are erected in the middle of the road, posing a danger to the residents in the area.

The two poles appear to support a third pole leaning from the edge of the road, which has little room for pedestrians to walk.

In a series of issues concerning electric poles raised by Kenyans, the company urged the area residents to share their locations to solve the issue.

Some of the electric poles were hanging while others were on the ground owing to the heavy rainfall different parts of the countries have been experiencing.

"Live electric wires lying on the road since then. All area remains in darkness. Who will save these residents," another questioned.

According to Kenya Power's regulation on electric lines, all poles should have a Danger/Hatari warning plate at a visible point at the height of 1.7 metres and legible from a distance of at least 2 metres.

"The Contractor shall take reasonable precautions to avoid damage to land, property, crops, etc. and shall ensure that the work is adequately supervised so that damage is reduced to the minimum," read part of the regulations.
