President William Ruto was reportedly disturbed by the raid on the Kenyatta family's Northlands City in Ruiru, according to insiders who made the revelations on Tuesday, April 11.

According to insiders, the Head of State was not pleased and distressed with the events even as he was out of the country on an official visit to Europe.

Concerns that the raid may have been allegedly planned and orchestrated by those in the Kenya Kwanza team also caused him more distress.

Thie incident, insiders claimed, pushed him to seek a truce with his rival, Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whose demonstrations were cited as the cause of loss of lives and property damage.

Speaking on the Northlands City raid, while in Germany, Ruto declined to touch on the incident directly, but directed the Inspector General to act independently without coercion.

“Kenya is a country of rule of law and has responsible citizens. As President, I will ensure that no one’s property is destroyed or life lost. That is what makes us equal. Nobody should trample on the rights of others,” the Head of State remarked after being asked whether the peaceful protests had turned violent.

Meanwhile, Ruto's allies also revealed that the President was the first to contact Raila by sending emissaries to broker a deal. These reports were confirmed by Raila, who spoke on the approach of Ruto during a presser on April 4.

At the April 4 Azimio media briefing, Raila also refuted that he met with Ruto in Masai Mara - a report confirmed by government insiders who spoke to Nation.

"The request came from the other side, and our people responded and gave conditions. There have been allegations that I met Mr Ruto in the Mara; nothing can be further from the truth.

"There has been no meeting between Ruto and me," he stated.

Raila responded to comments by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who claimed that Raila was the first to reach out to them.

"These people reached out to our President.  They said they had reached a dead-end and they wanted an exit strategy. The President said fine and he gave them the nod to go and discuss their issues in Parliament," Gachagua claimed then.

Kenyatta family farm in Ruiru was raided on March 27 with goons stealing 1400 sheep and cutting down an unknown number of trees.

Following the raid, senior Kenya Kwanza officials were accused of taking part in the planning - claims later denied by those targetted by critics, including the leader of the majority in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung'wah.

“If anyone suspects that I had a role to play in the Northlands invasion, then I am open to investigation. The police can access my phone to establish whom I spoke to if I did any mobilization or which place I visited on or before Monday 27," he stated.
