Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Monday, April 17, slammed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi over claims he made during a visit to the Western region.
In a strongly-worded statement, Nyong’o alleged that the Prime CS insinuated that Kisumu was not a good place for investment and portraying it as an insecure city.
Nyong’o refuted the claims adding that Mudavadi was also an investor and a landowner in Kisumu.
“Hon. Musalia Mudavadi in an address a few days ago in Western Kenya to a partisan audience portrayed Kisumu as a place where investments are insecure.
“Let it be known that Musalia himself is a landowner and a notable investor in the city of Kisumu known land owner and a notable investor in the city of Kisumu,” the statement read in part.
The Kisumu governor added that he had not received any complaints from the Prime CS concerning the security of his investments and property in Kisumu adding that the statements were meant for selfish gain.
“I have not as a governor of this great county received any complaints from him regarding the insecurity of his investments and property in Kisumu
“We know that during demonstrations, goons were bused into Kisumu to cause havoc. Let Mudavadi help stop this kind of sabotage by elements in the Kenya Kwanza brigade,” the statement added.

At the same time, the governor reiterated his support for Azimio leader Raila Odinga and would continue in their support for electoral justice and economic development.
He stated that the people of Kisumu would continue with the mass protests as directed by Odinga adding that the demonstrations would be peaceful.
“Let me remind the good people of this great county of Kisumu that we are faithful to our party leader Raila Amollo Odinga and Azimio la Umoja coalition in our struggle to liberate the people of Kenya from political oppression.
“We shall demonstrate peacefully, fully conscious that our detractors are ready to capitalize on these demonstrations to destroy the gains we have made in terms of investments and development,” Nyong’o noted in the statement.
Earlier, Speaking during a joint presser with Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff, Mudavadi warned against Azimio calling for the resumption of weekly demonstrations when the Holy Month of Ramadhan comes to an end.
He maintained that Kenya cannot have two concurrent governments and called on the public not to participate in the demonstrations.
"As an adult who has a family and had an opportunity to be in a very high office and you want to cheat Kenyans. These are the kinds of things that we ask our people to move away from," he stated.
