Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi on Thursday, April 20, met with the Deputy Ambassador to Kenya, Dvora Dorsman Yarkoni, and Yossi Harel-Fisch and discussed how Kenya could benefit from Israeli technology to fight drug abuse.

Yossi Harel-Fisch is the founder and chairman of the WBI-Addiction Global Advisory Group. He is also the chief scientist at the Israel Anti-Drugs Authority (IADA) and has held that position for the last 12 years since September 2010.

“Israel has heavily invested in the treatment and rehabilitation of addictions to psychoactive substances that include new techniques &methods with scientifically sound monitoring,” she noted in a statement.

IADA is a government agency similar to Kenya’s National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).

It drafts policies and regulations for combating the trafficking and abuse of drugs and psychotropic drugs.

“We explored areas of interest and collaboration in plans to fulfill the vision of raising up dignified boys and men in balanced and strong families,” she added.

On March 7, 2023, Dorcas Rigathi took the boy-child campaign to the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, where she urged UN member states to build positive masculinity among men and boys in order to remove them from the pit of alcoholism.

"Gender equality cannot be achieved by only focusing on women and girls to the exclusion of the male gender. We can attain more through the involvement of men and boys," she told delegates at the meeting.

On April 14, 2023, Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS), Kithure Kindiki, listed the top three threats to Kenya’s future.

He was speaking at a multi-sectoral meeting to discuss the alcoholism menace in Nyeri County which has hit the boy-child the most.

“Among the three national security threats; it is number one terrorism … the second threat is the threat of cattle rustling that affects approximately nine counties … the third threat is the trade, use, and abuse of illicit alcohol as well as psychotropic substances and drugs,” noted the CS.

On the other hand, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is leading the war against illicit brew Mt Kenya.

“We are losing an entire generation to the illicit liquor being sold in Central Kenya. Youths have become zombies,” Gachagua stated.

Since becoming the country's Second Lady, Pastor Rigathi continues to champion the welfare of boys in the society.
