Meta Chief Executive Officer, Mark Zuckerberg, on Tuesday, April 25, announced that WhatsApp users could access their accounts on up to four phones.

While addressing millions of his followers on Facebook, Zuckerberg stated that WhatsApp had become a great freeware that was aiding businesses across the world.

To be able to link up to four smartphones through a companion mode, a user will need to, first of all, install and configure the latest WhatsApp app on their devices.

"You'll want to make sure you're running the most recent version of the app. You can download WhatsApp Messenger app from the Google Play Store and in the App Store for iOS. Android users can also download the APK on WhatsApp's website," Zuckerberg stated.

If using a phone without a SIM, the installed WhatsApp will provide a QR code (similar to that seen on WhatsApp web).

Use your main smartphone to scan the QR code, and link accounts through the following process:

1. Open WhatsApp on your main smartphone.

2. Tap the â‹® overflow menu.

3. Tap Linked devices.

4. Tap the green Link a device button.5. Scan the QR code on your other phone.

6. Your secondary phone will start synchronizing your messages.

Meta says that WhatsApp accounts can only be verified with one registered phone number. You still must choose one number to verify with WhatsApp, if you have a dual SIM phone.

There is no option to have a verified WhatsApp account with two different phone numbers, but you can now use the same phone number on up to four phones.
