Citizen TV news anchor Waihiga Mwaura quit Royal Media Services (RMS) after amassing 14 years at the station.
The journalist confirmed that he would serve his last day on Tuesday, May 2.
"After 14 amazing years at Royal Media Services (Citizen TV), my time here has ended. My next stop is BBC News (BBCAfrica) specifically Focus on Africa.
"I'll share more details soon, but in the meantime, see you on my last episode of #Newsnight at 9:00 pm on Citizen TV," Waihiga stated in a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke.
He acknowledged that he was grateful for rising through the ranks and his experience to become one of the top news anchors in the country.
Aside from news anchoring, Waihiga's current role involved a features editor and special assignments editor.
The news was also announced by BBC's Alice Muthengi who confirmed Waihiga's new role in BBC Africa.
"I am delighted to let you know that Waihiga Mwaura will be the new presenter of Focus on Africa TV. Waihiga is a respected, award-winning, and talented Kenyan journalist with engaging storytelling and presentation skills.
"Some of you may have encountered him in London before, as he was the 2018 winner of the BBC News Komla award. He joins the programme at a crucial juncture, as we seek to reach younger audiences and tell more original and impactful stories," Muthengi stated.
Prior to joining Citizen TV, Waihiga worked as a sales agent at a local company from June 2006 to July 2007. Two months later, he underwent a one-year training program at CFC Bank Upper Hill Branch, Nairobi.
This experience equipped him with the skills to carry out cash management, customer service, and general branch management functions.
In September 2009, he joined RMS as a sports anchor for seven years. At the time, he scooped the CNN Multichoice Award in 2012 for a story based on Maasai Cricket Warriors.
In January 2017, he climbed up the ladder to a news anchor, where he developed Citizen Extra from a filler role to a three-hour program filled with both national and international affairs.
Throughout his career, Waihiga has scooped various prestigious awards, including the prestigious BBC World News 2018 Komla Dumor and the 2015 Mo Amin Africa awards.
The Kenya Christian Professionals Forum also awarded him the 2019 UBA award for his contribution to the media.
