Nairobi fire brigade team was hailed after clearing an accident scene within seven minutes and scrapping off any signs of trauma on Wednesday, May 3.

The accident reportedly occurred along Forest Road, involving three cars during peak traffic hour. Following the accident, traffic flow was disrupted, affecting motorists connecting to Thika Super Highway and those joining Juja Road.

However, the Nairobi fire brigade team and other emergency service providers including medical teams were notified of the crash  and rushed to the scene.

Working with traffic police, the fire brigade team cleared the accident scene within minutes.

Moreover, what impressed the motorists, is how they cleared the accident scene, including removing any signs of trauma that would have affected other motorists following the crash.

"Nairobi Fire Brigade are my heroes today! Not only in getting the police, ambulance, and fire trucks within seven minutes to rescue people from this bad 3-car accident, but now they are even cleaning up the signs of trauma after the cops have finished their work," a social media post shared by ma3route, an online real-time traffic update platform, indicated.

Responding to the positive feedback, Nairobi County attributed the swift action to effective delivery cultivated to the team of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

"Thank you very much for the kind words. The disaster, rescue and emergency team is definitely making  Nairobi Work," Nairobi County indicated.

Other motorists lauded Nairobi County and its emergency rescue team, indicating they had set a precedent by cleaning up the accident scene to protect other drivers from the crash trauma.

On Friday, January 27, Forbes observed that signs of trauma on the road after an accident affect other drivers. The acclaimed publication indicated that the signs lead to anxiety and thus affect movement on the road.

It thus recommended cleaning after police collect all the required evidence and clear the accident scene.

According to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), 4,432 road users died in accidents between January 1 and December 2022.

The number of deaths rose by 161 people from 4,271 in 2021 to 4,432.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen ordered a crackdown targeting all motorists in the country in a bid to tame road carnage.

Murkomen implored Parliament to enact laws that would impose penalties on those found guilty of deliberately causing road accidents.

"It is clear that all these reasons are outright human error. We are misusing the word accidents. The statistics show people are outrightly becoming reckless and causing deaths," he stated.
