The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Executive meeting was on Wednesday, May 17, scuttled by rowdy youths who stormed the venue and kicked out party offices.

The meeting which was taking place in Wagai, Gem Town, came to an abrupt halt after the goons who were visibly angry roughed up ODM grassroots executives.

Addressing the media after the ugly incident, one of the party executives explained that all signs pointed to possible violence even before the attackers arrived.

"When we arrived in the morning, we found that someone had attempted to burn down ODM offices. In fact, the entrance to the office had been burnt by fire.

"The plastic chairs which we had been gathered last evening were also burnt completely. We went to the police and reported the matter for investigation," ODM Party officials explained.

After arriving for the meeting the group of rowdy youth came in and started making unfounded demands, particularly, asking the delegates to vacate the premises.

The adamant delegates stood their ground for a few minutes but the situation got worse when the unruly youth started ejecting the officials from the premises.

What followed was mayhem as attendees scampered for their lives, even though some of the elderly officials lacked the much-needed strength to escape the wrath of the youth.

"They stated that there was no way we were going to have our meeting at the Party offices. The police came, and there was a long stand-off which eventually force the officers to leave us," an ODM official stated.

After being forced to move out of their party offices, the Orange party officials noted that they were going to ensure that the violent youth were brought to book, including their sponsor.

"The goons who attacked us are very well known to us, and we know the Member of Parliament who sent the goons to beat us up," ODM Party stated.

The officials also claimed to know the person who was behind that attack and disrespectful behaviour that led to the destruction of party assets.

"The Member of Parliament is one of the ODM Party leaders who had apparently moved to President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA)," ODM official narrated.
