Police officers launched investigations after Yusuf Ghasana, a cleric and a resident of Komarock Estate, was abducted from his home by unknown people.
Ghasana’s wife told the press on Sunday, June 5, that her attempts to locate her husband's whereabouts were futile since his disappearance on Tuesday, May 30.
She explained that a man knocked on their door at 7:00 pm on Tuesday pretending to be looking for a house to rent.
After a short while, she heard movement in the living room and asked her child to check her husband had received visitors because she was busy in the kitchen.
The child came back terrified letting her know that there were men in the living room manhandling her father.
“I was in the kitchen going about my work when I heard movement in the living room so I sent my child to check what was going on.
“She came back really scared saying that the men in the living room were not guests because they were hurting her father,” she pensively recalled.
Further, she stated that she quickly took her child and hid while calling friends for help but by the time the first respondent arrived, the men had already left with her husband.
“Everything happened so fast that by the time anyone got here, they had already left with my husband. I was hiding with the child,” she narrated.
Ghasana had been teaching religious studies in Dandora and Kayole and had not previously expressed any fear for his life.
The refugee from Rwanda was also a social worker at a community-based organisation.
Police officers probing the matter revealed that they retrieved the CCTV footage of what occurred that evening and learnt that the abductors sped off with the abductee in a Landcruiser.
The estate guards also noted down the vehicle's registration plate, a detail the police confirmed would aid in their investigations.
“I called the police station to report the incident and I have not received any feedback to date. The officers told me that the car that took him was a Landcruiser,” she stated
