Kenya Forest Service Announces 4,000 Vacancies; How to Apply

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS), on Tuesday, June 27, announced 4,000 vacant positions to be filled by unskilled nursery attendants.

In a statement, the state corporation revealed the details of the vacancies, which included enticing incentives such as monthly wages ranging from Ksh8,631 to Ksh16,401. 

Additionally, successful candidates would benefit from coverage by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The successful recruits will work in the 300 KFS tree nurseries nationwide and will be tasked with the propagation and maintenance of seedlings.

"The Service is the lead implementing agency for the 15 Billion Special Presidential Programme to accelerate attainment of 30 per cent National Tree Cover by 2032. 

"To this end, the Service seeks to recruit 4,000 “Green Army” (unskilled Nursery Attendants) on Temporary Contract Terms to support the production of seedlings in KFS Tree Nurseries across the country," read part of the job advert.

Successful applicants will be employed on one-year temporary contracts subject to renewal and based on performance and the available budget.

How to Apply

The applicants should visit the official website recruitment.kenyaforestservice.org and apply online. 

After successful online registration, the candidates will receive a notification email to guide them on how to proceed. Applicants facing technical challenges were advised to contact the ICT technicians.

All applicants must be Kenyan Citizens aged 18 and above.

Additionally, they must be residents of the targeted counties, sub-counties, and wards.

Duties

Applicants will be tasked with collecting and mixing nursery soil in the recommended ratio, collecting and sowing wildings, participating in tree planting and firefighting activities, and cleaning and maintaining of nursery compounds, among other roles.

KFS urged all interested candidates suitable for the jobs offered to report for recruitment at set venues for screening.

Applications made after July 22, 2023, will be rejected.
