The Delhi High Court in India revived the case of media magnate Zulfikar Ahmed Khan on Wednesday, July 12, a year after he went missing while vacationing in Kenya.

Responding to a petition filed by his sister, Anis Fatima Zachariah, the court directed two Indian ministries, namely the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, requiring them to submit a status report on the case within a two-week timeframe.

According to local media reports, Justice Subramonium Prasad, the presiding judge in the case, has scheduled the hearing for August 2023.

According to court filings, Zachariah claimed that both the Indian and Kenyan governments had demonstrated a lack of action in pursuing the case after the tycoon went missing in July 2022.

Khan's family further indicated that they had a strong conviction that their kin was being detained in Kenya under the instructions of senior security officials within the National Police Service.

“The kidnapping allegedly seems to be politically motivated and due to which despite numerous efforts, which are still ongoing, made by the petitioner and the rest of the family before the Kenyan authorities, not much help is forthcoming.

"Neither is the family being informed about the status of the investigation nor is any other information forthcoming from the Kenyan authorities either,” read her report.

As a result, Zachariah sought the court to expeditiously inquire into the matter and give guidance.

Zulfikar Khan's Disappearance

Khan disappeared while in the company of his friend Mohamed Zaid Sami Kidwai as well as their driver Nicodemus Mwania along Mombasa Road.

The incident happened just minutes after the two left a popular club in Westlands, Nairobi.

He started his career in 1999 and boasts of over 10 years of leading and driving transformational revenue growth in both start-ups and large organizations.
