President William Ruto met with hundreds of Kiambu grassroots leaders at the State House on Wednesday, August 27.

Held on the recently declared Katiba Day, Ruto shared with the leaders his three-year report card, before sharing the multibillion-shilling projects he had in store for the county.

Although he did not mention how much it was expected to cost, he promised a new 10,000-seater stadium, which will be built in Thika town.

The President further relayed that his administration was in the process of delivering the largest modern markets development in Kenya’s history, including 30 modern markets in the county.

According to the Head of State, the construction of these 35 markets will cost Ksh4.5 billion.

He also revealed that an additional Ksh30 billion is being invested in the construction of at least 15,000 housing units in Kiambu County as part of the affordable housing project.

In terms of road infrastructure, he announced a further Ksh22 billion to complete the 240-kilometre Mau Mau road network in the Kiambu area and to dualise the Muthaiga–Ndumberi road.

Finally, he announced the allocation of Ksh20 billion to complete the Northern Bypass.

Outside of Kiambu, Ruto further maintained that his administration was committed to transforming different sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure and employment.

In light of the current SHA payments scandal plaguing the healthcare system, Ruto announced that his administration would digitise the system to eliminate fraudulent facilities. So far, over 700 facilities have been closed as a result.

"The digitisation of the health system under SHA is enabling us to identify and eliminate fraud," the President revealed.

"Fraudulent health facilities are not only being shut down, but will also be compelled to refund whatever they claimed & culprits will be prosecuted."
