Henry Ogoye was appointed as the new acting Managing Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Saturday, August 26, after Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen terminated the contract of former boss Alex Gitari.
Murkomen announced the changes after visiting the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), which experienced a power outage on Friday night.
Ogoye, who also previously worked at Kenya Power as a technical staff and later as Head of Corporate Planning and Strategy at KAA, will oversee the management of airports countrywide going forward.

Prior to his appointment as acting MD, Ogoye was among the top managers at KAA and served as Head of Corporate Planning and Strategy.
According to his profile published by the International Quality & Productivity Centre (IQPC) Middle East, Okoye joined KAA in 2006. IQPC is a global business website which profiles entrepreneurs and tech professionals.
In his post as head of Cooperate planning, the acting MD was tasked with coordinating the strategic planning of the organisation, which helped the management of the KAA make key decisions over its operations.
He was also mandated with monitoring traffic information and handling corporate research.
Despite his distinguished career at KAA, Ogoye's attractive credentials are credited to his past work experience at t Kenyan Power and Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen).
Ogoye worked at Kenya Power for six months before moving to KenGen, a power generation firm, in 1998. The new KAA MD is reported to have been among the key staff who helped in setting up the institution tasked with generating electricity for Kenya Power.
"He delivered a successful Initial Public Offer of the company in 2005. Before joining KenGen Ogoye was a lecturer in the Economics Department at Egerton University," reads the profile in part.
Education Background
Ogoye is an expert in Strategic Planning, having studied Mathematics and Economics at Egerton University in Nakuru, graduating in 1992.
Additionally, he holds two master's degrees from the University of Nairobi, where he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA- Finance) and a Masters of Arts in Economics.
The KAA Acting MD further pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
