The National Heroes Council has launched a logo design competition, open to all Kenyan individuals and organizations.
The Council, responsible for identifying, selecting, and honouring national heroes and heroines, has set a four-week submission period starting from September 5.
Submissions for the competition must be received by October 3. The Council further reiterated that late entries will not be considered.
Participants will be required to complete tender documents, enclose them in a plain sealed envelope, and indicate the tender number and the address of the Chief Executive Officer as stipulated in the government announcement.
Participants will be required to deposit the envelope in a tender box located at the Embankment Plaza along Longonot Road, Nairobi County on or before October 3.
The terms of reference for the logo design competition have also been well defined to establish the parameters that will determine the competition's winner.
Applicants will be required to ensure that the logo symbolizes the fourteen functional areas featured in the First Schedule of the Kenya Heroes Act of 2014, which provides the criteria for identifying, selecting, and declaring national heroes.
Another essential term necessitates participants to incorporate national symbols, colours, or historical references, serving as representations of national heroism.
Further, the inclusion of landmarks, monuments, or architectural structures with heroic cultural, historical, or symbolic significance for the nation is another aspect that will also be required.
The parameters will be taken into account when evaluating the logo designs submitted for the competition.

The competition winner will take home a cash reward of Ksh200,000, the first runners up will receive Ksh150,000 while the second runners up will bag Ksh100,000.
The National Heroes Council is a state Corporation domiciled under the Department of Culture and Heritage in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage.
The Council is mandated to perform various functions pertaining to formulating and implementing policy relating to national heroes.
