11 individuals, including Former Suna West MP Joseph Ndiege, were hospitalised following protests that erupted during a gathering organized by Azimio's Raila Odinga and attended by ODM delegates in Migori County.

The chaos began when youths, armed with machete, insisted on searching all vehicles before they access Maranatha Church grounds, where the meeting was to take place.

Ndiege's two vehicles, Toyota Landcruiser V8 and Toyota Probox, were denied entry and the vehicles pelted with stones by the youth.

According to photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the legislator's windows were shattered as the youths targetted him and his supporters, leading them to leave the venue.

Those who sustained injuries were taken to Ojele Memorial Hospital in Migori.

Calm was restored shortly after Raila's arrival at the venue, with Azimio supporters gathering around his vehicles.

The meeting was attended by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria, Migori County Senator Eddy Gicheru Oketch, Migori County woman Representative Fatuma Mohamed, Nyatike MP Tom Mboya Odege and Awendo Constituency MP Walter Owino.

During his address at the meeting, Raila said that those elected on ODM party ticket needed to adhere to the party Constitution or else resign and seek re-election.

He also defended the decision to kick out five Members of Parliament, saying that the party is strong when its members are united and disciplined.

The five who were expelled include Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Phelix Odiwuor also known as ‘Jalang’o’ (Lang’ata), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

“ODM must be strong as a political party, it can be strong when there Is discipline but it cannot progress when there are cases of indiscipline,” Raila said.

“We want to see unity, you can’t move to another party claiming that you are looking for development. There are structures the leaders can use to get development. We don't want betrayal. That's why we took actions against those not loyal to the party. If you think you are ballsy enough, just come back to the ground."
