Kenya has continued to reign supreme over its African peers after five resorts closed out among the top 7 best establishments in the annual Conde Nast Traveller's ranking.
The five include Elewana Elsa's Kopje Meru at Meru International Park which took position 1 followed by Cottar's 1920s Camp in Masai Mara (position 2) and Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp in Masai Mara (position 5).
Others were Sanctuary Olonana in Masai Mara (Position 6) and Sirikoi Lodge at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Position 7).
The Kenyan resorts were praised for their human touch and rich Masai culture which made guest-local interaction seamless.
"When it comes to resorts, experiences such as an early morning run with a member of the local Maasai helped Cottar's 1920s Camp track well this year, as did the family rungu-throwing at Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp," read the Conde Nast Traveller report in part.
Elsa's Kopje topped with 99.42 percentage point while Cottar's 1920s Camp (99.34), Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp (98.97), Sanctuary Olonana (98.59) and Sirikoi Lodge (97.62).
Elewana Elsa's Kopje Meru prides itself on its special design where each cottage is crafted around the rocks, with a large bedroom, open sitting room, veranda and spacious bathroom, each with breathtaking views.
Its guests enjoy seclusion at the center that boasts 870 square kilometers the equivalent of 215,000 acres, of authentic African landscape.
Cottar's 1920s Camp, on the other hand, is situated in the 7608-acre private Olderkesi Conservancy bordering the famous ‘seventh’ natural wonder of the world, the Maasai Mara in Kenya and the Tanzania Serengeti game reserve.
The five featured alongside other high-end establishments including Lolebezi in Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge in Tanzania, Wilderness Duma Tau in Linyati, Botswana, and Wilderness Vumbura Plains in Botswana.
For the ranking, Conde Nast Traveller invites its millions of readers to vote on the best hotels, resorts, cruises, and countries among other amenities.
Kenyan establishments, however, were only featured in the resorts section. No Kenyan hotel was ranked among the top in the hotel's section.
