Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday attacked the government over the high cost of living weighing down Kenyans.

Speaking during a meeting with religious leaders in Westlands, Sifuna questioned why those attending the weekly prayer sessions at State House do not advise President William Ruto.

"You go to State House every week why can't you tell him he is hurting God's children," he posed.

He asked the 'prayer warriors' to talk to Ruto and lower the price of fuel with Kenyans paying Ksh217 for petrol, Ksh203.47 for diesel, and Ksh203.06 for kerosene.

Sifuna also wondered why Ruto would stand before people who elected him and lie to them.

He also asked those requesting the opposition to protest against the current state of affairs including hiked taxes  to elect better leaders in the next elections.

"You came home with a thief and let him in, leaving the dog outside. Later you are screaming that there is a thief, do you think the dog will take action when you are the one who let the thief in," the Senator questioned.

"Those who voted in this government should stop disturbing others by asking them to make noise. How will that help us now?" he questioned.

Sifuna also castigated Ruto's speech at Parliament last week terming it as inaccurate and untrue.

The lawmaker reiterated the stance that he deliberately skipped the State of the Nation Address claiming that he foresaw a situation where he would protest as the Head of State made his address. This he said, would lead to him being kicked out of Parliament for 6 months.

Sifuna stated that he was convinced that the President, based on his track record since being elected into office, would misrepresent facts.

This comes after Winnie Odinga, Raila's daughter, told off Kenyans seeking her father's intervention over the rising cost of living.

In a statement, Winnie asked an online user why he was seeking Raila, yet voters declined to vote for him claiming that they were 'sending him to Bondo'.

The cost of living has become unbearable for a majority of Kenyans who have accused the Kenya Kwanza government of turning on the very same people who voted President William Ruto into power.

However, Ruto has maintained that his focus is to lower the cost of living as promised during the campaign period.
