A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was on Monday arrested after he reportedly took a 25-year-old hostage over allegations of extramarital affairs with his wife.
According to a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the KDF officer, based at Nanyuki Barracks, in the company of a medical scientist at Makueni County Referral Hospital, allegedly caught the man red-handed with his wife at Shimo estate in Makueni County.
Angered by the two lovebirds, the duo nabbed the victim, tied him up with a rope and took him hostage.
The officer then reportedly proceeded to torture the man, piercing his private parts with cactus thorns and inflicting deep cuts on his face. At that time, the 25-year-old was wailing and begging for his life.
The KDF officer and his accomplice drove the 25-year-old to Makueni Police Station on allegations of having extramarital affairs with the officer's wife.
The KDF officer and the medical scientist were, however, arrested and detained at Makueni Police Station for causing grievous harm to the 25-year-old.
On the other hand, the victim was escorted to Makueni County Referral Hospital for treatment.
Police thereafter launched investigations to ascertain why the KDF officer subjected the victim to torture and cruel treatment.
They also reported the case to the military which was said to have taken over the case.
If found culpable, the KDF officer will face disciplinary actions according to Section 24 of the Armed Forces Act which subjects the suspect to a court martial process that deems the appropriate punishment.
According to the Act, those found guilty of committing offences against the civil population will be subjected to a minimum sentence of a two-year jail term.
"Any person subject to this Act who outside Kenya commits any wrongful act against the person or property of any member of the civil population shall be guilty of an offence and liable, on conviction by court-martial, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or any less punishment provided by this Act," read part of the Act.
