Conversation on how safe property is during out-of-office meetings when left unattended has resurfaced after a man was captured stealing laptops from a conference hall while the attendees had left the room at a hotel in Westlands, Nairobi County.

The episode was captured on CCTV cameras with the timestamp from the footage showing the incident occurred in the afternoon at around 1:24 pm.

As depicted in the footage, the suspect was seen arriving at the venue in a boda boda carrying a bag pack. He could then be seen walking towards the entrance which a security guard was manning.

The suspect then entered the building and into the conference room and started stealing the laptops in the vicinity and putting them in his bag.

The suspect took a few minutes before vanishing with the stolen goods unnoticed.

After he left the room, one of the employees at the building came into the hall, to replace the water bottles on each table not noting that something was amiss.

Following the incident,  Kenyans commenting on the matter accused the security guard of being in cahoots with the suspect and failing to inspect the man's bag when he entered and left the premises.

The owners of the venue were also blamed for failing to have a security guard manning the room while the attendees were out on a break.

"This looks like an inside job, he picked great timing around lunchtime, when all are away, with precise planning. How timely?" one questioned.

Kenyans also questioned why the suspect looked confident while entering the building and packing the loot in his bag.

Some opined that he may have been sent to take specific laptops from the conference hall.

Additionally, a section of Kenyans called for facility owners to install CCTV cameras in each room and have employees monitoring CCTV 24 hours a day to avoid such incidents heading into the future.

Kenyans were advised to take their belongings with them during meetings if they notice the facility is not properly secured.
