"Let's create an environment that attracts the best investors. This will increase employment for the youth, thus more taxes to be utilized for the benefit of this county," stated Kang'ata.

The Governor further indicated that he selected renowned academia, business people and professionals to tap into their experience.

Names of the appointees were first Gazetted in November last year. Other gazetted names included former Equity Chairman Peter Munga, Businessman Jimnah Mbaru, Professor Olive Mugenda, and Ambassador Mary Muthoni.

However, no further details on their contracts including their terms of service and remuneration, if any, were provided.

The council was founded in 2015 to reconcile and build cohesion among leaders drawn from the county.

Kang'ata now expects the newly sworn-in leaders to advise him on areas through which the county can lead investments with a special focus being the Export Processing Zone (EPZ).

"We believe the proposed EPZ will be a game changer in terms of economic growth and development of this county," The governor revealed in November last year.

"The EPZ will utilize raw materials from the county and we also urge the EPZ to ensure that 99 per cent of the labour force for the project comes from Murang’a host county."
