Residents of Nandi County came to the aid of Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba on Thursday after his car got stuck in the mud along the Cherangany-Koisagat road on January 18.
In a video shared by the residents, some of them struggled to push the car as others guided the driver on how to navigate the sticky area.
More residents lay tree leaves and stones to propel the vehicle and increase traction between the tyre and the ground. The stones and logs also created a stable surface for the car to drive on.
Meanwhile, others observed from a distance as the CS and his entourage struggled to access the impassable road.
After struggling through the challenging terrain for some time, the CS was able to get through the mud and continued with his journey.
He later detailed that he was to tour Bungoma County after passing through Nandi where he held several engagements with local sports stakeholders.
"Nandi County, then Cherengany in Trans-Nzoia County. Closing day at Kanduyi Stadium in Bungoma County," he posted on X.
He also passed by Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega where he assessed renovations and committed to upgrading it before the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) games begin.
"Among the key areas of the stadium earmarked for rehabilitation by the ministry is the southern C section, installation of seats, revamping of the playing field, changing rooms and floodlights as the ministry ticks the critical boxes expected by CAF," he stated.
Meanwhile, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has continuously urged the government to renovate roads in his region, which he argued were impassable.
Last year, Cherargei clashed with Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen after he urged the latter to prioritise local contractors in the issuance of road tenders.
Murkomen differed arguing that he would issue tenders based on qualifications rather than tribal affiliations.
