The CEO of the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital, Patricia Musale on Wednesday, filed a statement with the Director of Criminal Investigations Nakuru (DCI) over death threats made against her.
Speaking through her lawyer, after recording the statement, the CEO stated that she had received threats made against her life through a call and text messages.
The lawyer who addressed journalists stated that the call which she recorded and text messages were presented to the DCI as evidence.
According to reports, the text message written in Swahili read, “Listen to me very carefully we know you are working for foreigners, you want to compromise the health of patients. If even one person dies, you will know you don’t know."
The lawyer further stated that they had been directed to the nearest police station to record a statement.
The War Memorial Hospital Nakuru has been involved in ownership wrangles, with the Nakuru County Government over the past few days.
Previous reports indicated that the County Government had forcefully taken over the hospital’s management while ignoring court orders directing the Susan Kihika-led administration not to interfere with operations at the facility.
The Deputy Registrar Priscah Nyotah, reported that “The gates are manned by county askaris and the National Police Service. Entry requires permission from the county officials. Staff were evicted, and patients were being discharged or referred to other hospitals.”
The said action happened on Saturday when the county forcefully took over the management of the hospital, ignoring orders issued by Justice Millicent Odeny on October 30, 2023.
In the escalating ownership row, the Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika, stated that the private owners of the hospital forged documents to show the transfer of the hospital from the county government.
She also rubbished claims by Nakuru Senator, Tabitha Karanja who stated that the health of patients was risked as Nakuru Kanjos raided the facility during the hostile takeover.
