Drama ensued at Machakos Law Courts today January 31, as a Member of the Machakos County Assembly Boniface Maeke was stripped by the county inspectorate while avoiding arrest.
Maeke further suffered a broken leg as he tried to resist the six-man army of county inspectorates.
Following the fierce fight and injury, the Askaris managed to haul him onto the county government van.
Machakos County OCS who was escorting the team, managed to get Maeke into the police station and record a statement.
Reports privy to the drama indicated that Maeke had gone to the law court in solidarity with his friend who was arrested the previous day.
His friend Douglas Musyoka was arrested on January 30, after the county government accused him of building his home in contravention to the county government requirements.
It was at this scene where he was singled out by the inspectorates and forcefully arrested.
After the drama, he was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to the Machakos county government, any individual seeking to build a house must seek building approval after submitting the rightful ownership title deeds and land rates clearance forms.
After which they are required to wait for up to two weeks for the town planners to approve.
During these two weeks, the town planners conduct site visits to deliberate on the requirements of the buildings.
However, even if approved, in events where the property owner still goes against the county requirements, he or she might face arrest.
