The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has warned parents about the possibility of their children missing the 2024 KCSE examinations owing to blunders in the registration process.

In a notice dated Friday, March 22, KNEC advised parents to ensure that their children are registered for the examination ahead of the deadline.

Parents and guardians were, therefore,  encouraged to visit schools to ascertain the status of their children's registration. At the same time, they were advised to confirm the details captured in the exercise.

Schools and parents are also required to pay attention to the photographs captured in the registration.

Further, parents were advised to adhere to the timelines issued by the examination body as there would be no extension given to parents.

The deadline for the registration has been set for Friday, March 29.

"Please note that the portal for registration of this year's candidates closes on March 29, one week from now, and there will be no extension of the deadline and requests for late registration will not be honoured.

"There will be no room for change of photographs for KCSE candidates after the closure of the registration period. Please visit your child's school and ensure he/she is registered and the details are captured accurately. Do not let your child miss the exam!" read the notice in part.

Some of the requirements for the registration exercise include the student's birth certificate details and their index numbers.

On the other hand, photographs are usually captured and added to the printed KCSE certificates. This is to ensure that people do not use the certificates of others during job applications or when joining campus.

KNEC opened the registration exercise on January 29 after the release of the 2023 KCSE results.

Meanwhile, registration for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) students is ongoing.
