Ababu Namwamba Reveals Raila's Connection to 'Men in Black' During ODM Elections in 2014

Budalang'i Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba on Tuesday claimed that Opposition leader Raila Odinga was aware of the 'Men in Black' who disrupted ODM Elections on February 28, 2014, at Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Namwamba stated that on the eve of the elections, on February 27, they received intel that the polls would be disrupted.

According to the legislator, he confronted Odinga with regard to the 'Men in Black' and informed him that they were meeting at a hotel in readiness to disrupt the polls and ensure he (Namwamba) and his 'ODM Fresh' team were never elected.

"On the 27th (February 2014), we received very very reliable intelligence that the elections were going to be disrupted in Kasarani...we had a candid meeting with Raila Odinga… we told him plans were at an advanced stage to disrupt election at Kasarani… Our Intel tells us they are actually waiting for you at a hotel in Ngong… He denied any knowledge and assured that the elections would be held," the MP disclosed.

On the day of the elections, men clad in black suits posing as security officers caused chaos and destroyed ballot boxes forcing the Orange party to call off the Elections.

ODM delegates, who were in attendance, rooted for Agnes Zani to be elected as one of the leaders instead of the legislator.

Later in the year, ODM convened a meeting at Naivasha where Namwamba was appointed as the Secretary-General by Odinga.

However, Namwamba now claims that the botched elections were part of an elaborate plan to ensure he was never elected so that some leaders in ODM could always remind him that his SG position was a mere appointment.

The former ODM SG claimed that Odinga preferred Zani to be the Secretary-General and was never honest with him from the beginning.

The Budalang'i MP is now the leader of Labour Party of Kenya (LPK), which he intends to use in defending his parliamentary seat.
