A female Administration Police (AP) officer died on Wednesday morning after being attacked and brutally stabbed.
The officer was guarding Capital Sacco in Igoji, Meru County alongside her colleague when they were accosted by the criminals trying to gain access to the premises.
Unfortunately, the robbers stabbed and seriously wounded her before escaping with her firearm after failing to enter the Sacco.
One of the three gangsters was, however, killed by members of the public as he tried to flee the scene on foot.
Confirming the incident, area Member of County Assembly John Kireria stated that the authorities were aware of the direction used by the escaping thugs adding that had launched a hunt for them.
"The three had kept vigil near the Sacco for about an hour before one of them stabbed the female officer and took her gun. She died while being rushed to hospital. They did not manage to enter the Sacco. We are going after them," stated Kireria.
The same was reiterated by Imenti South OCPD John Cheruiyot who assured that they were investigating the incident.
