After Receiving KCPE Results, School Girl Requests Ruto to Pay Her Secondary Education Fees

A girl, who was among the top performers in the 2016 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam on Monday pleaded with Deputy President William Ruto to pay for her secondary education fees.

Anne Muthoni, who sat for her exams at Utafiti Boarding School in Makueni County and scored 425 out of 500 marks, stated that her mother was not financially stable and could not afford to cater for her fees.

She added that her mother was a single parent and was struggling to take care of her and the other three children considering she was only a high school teacher, eDaily reports.

Muthoni divulged that she had written a letter to Ruto earlier in the year when he visited their school making the same request but she was yet to get a response.

The girl has urged the DP to make her dream of Joining Alliance Girls’ High School a reality. Muthoni hopes to become a neurosurgeon in the future.

Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i shocked the country last week on Thursday after he unexpectedly released KCPE results.

This was one of the most heavily guarded exams in Kenya with the top candidate garnering 437 marks out of a possible 500.

In a report published on Kenyans.co.ke the ministry assured that all students who scored 400 marks and above would go to the national school they selected.
