All Malls in Nairobi's Eastleigh Estate to be Closed from Thursday - Business Leaders Announce

Leaders of the Eastleigh Business Community have announced that all malls in the area will be closed down completely from Thursday.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, the leaders said the move was meant to protest a court ruling that allowed hawkers in Eastleigh to sell wares outside their shops.

The business associates failed to disclose when the malls will be re-opened but warned that they will not accept the court's ruling.

Hawkers were in September 2016 kicked ou of Eastleigh with their makeshift structures being destroyed by the County Government.

The business leaders in the area protested the encroachment by the hawkers on grounds that it was hurting their business yet they were paying heavily for the malls they occupied.

After they were evicted, the hawkers have been protesting outside Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero's office claiming it was an unfair move to evict them.
