ANC and Ford Kenya Leaders Vow to Reject Aspirants Drawn from ODM in Western

A row is brewing in the National Super Alliance (NASA) after Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula declared that they would isolate the Orange Democratic Movement aspirants in the region.

According to Senator Wetangula, the Western region was an Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya zone and its affiliate party in NASA, ODM, should forget about winning seats in the region.

Wetangula revealed that they would only support NASA and ODM party leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid but not any other ODM aspirant.

"We will support Raila as a community. Let us vote for NASA even if Musalia and I did not get the flag. For other seats, let Raila not impose leaders like Wycliffe Oparanya on us. We will campaign for Boni Khalwale and other Ford Kenya leaders," said Wetang'ula

His sentiments were echoed by his ally Senator Bonny Khalwale who argued that the region had overwhelmingly supported the choice of NASA’s flag-bearer and would not accept to be manipulated.

“We know how to plan for ourselves. We will not allow anybody to dictate for us. We have decided Raila will get our votes for the presidency but ODM will not get seats in the region," said Khalwale.

The remarks by the two leaders were however rejected by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who insisted that ODM would field candidates for all elective seats in western.

Oparanya refuted the assertions that Western was an ANC and Ford Kenya zone and highlighted that ODM candidates would battle it out with other aspirants for various seats, including those from Jubilee.
