ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi Reveals NASA to Pick Flag-bearer Through Consensus

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has revealed that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will pick its flag bearer through an agreement.

Speaking at The House Grace Church in Ongata Rongai, Mr Mudavadi noted that the presidential candidate would be picked soon after consideration of several parameters.

Mudavadi's revelation came amid uncertainty on the technique the Opposition alliance would adopt in picking its candidate ahead of the April 15 deadline.

On Thursday Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, who is a member of NASA's National Coordinating Committee tasked with coming up with the Alliance's candidate, disclosed that the committee had finally completed its task.

According to Muthama, all that was left to do is revealing the chosen candidate which he said would be done by the end of the month.

“We have accomplished our duty and by the end of this month, we will have a date with Kenyans to tell them who will lead them towards the August 8 polls victory,” stated the senator.

On Saturday, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga indicated that NASA would announce its flagbearer sooner rather than later.

Speaking at the coast, the former Prime Minister stated that NASA supporters should remain calm and soon they would see the white smoke.

Last week, Raila claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was behind the unending speculations of an impending break up in the NASA coalition.

He stressed that the coalition, comprising of him, Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula, would not break and it remains focused on beating the Jubilee Party in the August 8 General Election.

"There are many rumours that NASA will disintegrate, but take it from me that it will never happen. None among the four of us is leaving. Leaving to go where?" he emphasised.

The NASA luminary further added that nearly all sectors in the country had degenerated in the last four years since the Jubilee administration rose to power.
